Funny how the calendar influences our mind, right? Every day is in principle the same, the sun comes up and it shines all day and then it goes under. Every day the same. But in our mind the days are not the same. Most people experience the Mondays different than the Fridays. That is not surprising given that most people do not have to work during the weekend and are looking forward to two days off.
And we experience months different too. Mostly because we relate the months to the changing of the seasons and the progress in the year. Yeah, the years. We are definitely also influenced by the years. We count our time on earth by the years and we celebrate another year on our birthday.
When a year comes to an end we tend to slow down for some reason. So by November we start to think about the end of the year and the upcoming Holidays, and then by December we stop making new plans because in our minds you should not make new plans at the end of a year.
But our minds tell us that we need to make new plans when the New Year starts so then it hits us! We now feel that we have 365 brand new days ahead of us and we make new plans how to use those days! We are full of excitement for some reason because our calendar tells us that New Year’s Day is not the same as New Year’s Eve. The last one signifies the end and the first one signifies the new beginning! And we make resolutions for the New Year. And as we all know, the main resolution is to lose weight.
So let’s go for it! We have all gained some weight in December. Let’s not dwell on that. We have had a good time with friends and family and we ate a bit too much. But now the calendar tells us that that time is over and that we have to start losing all that again – and more.
Let’s obey the calendar and start losing weight!
